The previous posts helped me out quite a bit. After 3 years of good performance, we suddenly were getting "error - cannot read disc..." We don't smoke and are good about changing the furnace filters every 3 months, but still we had issues - with every disc we tried. I bought the cleaning kit and PAY ATTENTION it did work when I did the following:
Follow the directions. Immediately after inserting the cleaning disk plate, you will want to move it back and forth as it suggests, but I was not able to clean the lens as needed in 3 tries. The last time I did it, I moved the disc back and forth, but tilted it toward the optical sensor to make sure I engaged the pad on the eye of the reader. After I did this, I could notice some dirt on the cleaning pad and what do you know.... the Wii is working famously now!Get more detail about Wii Lens Cleaning Kit.
