Tales Of Symphonia: Dawn of the New World Review

I played the first Tales of Symphonia with my husband and found the play and the story to be one of the best I've played so far. We always look for video games we can play together, and upon finding that a sequel had been made to the first, we decided to try it out as well.

It has many good points. The play is very similar to the first, with a lot of the attacks being the same and the player set-up the same. Instead of a Unison Attack where all members converge into one massive hit, characters are given special attacks that can be achieved when a bar at the bottom is full. The Wonder Chef makes his appearance again in this game, but not as often and the recipes don't heal your party. Instead, they strengthen monsters that you ally yourself with along the way.

Some frustrating points of the game were the fact that only one person can play for about the first hour or so of the game. The story doesn't allow for it. Also, when people leave--even for just a little while it takes that character out of the party and resets the character's attacks to auto mode.

Even so, I really enjoyed the play of this game and would recommend it entirely. The graphics and the cut scenes are better and even fully voiced as opposed to its predecessor that only voiced certain parts, especially not the random cut scenes.

Food Network: Cook or be Cooked Best Quality

I picked this game up on sale and what can I say? I didn't expect much. I've never finished a Wii game before and I was hoping that Cook or Be Cooked would be enough motivation to dust off our old Wii and give it a try.

This game is so much fun. Not only that, it's based off of actual recipes and you get really cool cooking tips during the game! What I like most is that there is a great aspect of realism when it comes to gameplay. Multitasking is important, as well as speed. This game is incredibly easy to pick up and I think anyone can learn. I was cranking out silver medal dishes after two tries. Not only is it easy, it's really interactive. The controls aren't all finicky like in other cooking games and you can pretty much make do with vigorously shaking your Wii-mote and nunchuck when chopping.

If I had a complaint to make about this game, it'd be the lack of content. I'm definitely no avid gamer and I ended up beating this game in two days. I really wish they added more than just 30-odd recipes to the list. They have breakfast, lunch, dinner, but no dessert!

Low Price Cursed Mountain

While the reviews I read before purchasing this game made me want it, now that I have played if for a while, I really have to say it is no fun at all.
I appreciate the cultural information about the thangkas and the main character's sensitivity to the plight of the missing village people. I loved the fact that the character can get his mojo back by doing purification rituals and goes to the trouble of performing compassion rituals for vanquished ghosts, but it's still not fun.
I have had a seriously difficult time of trying to get the controls to do what the instruction book says they should in fighting the ghosts, and this is a good part of my frustration. The on screen cursor disappears at important moments when I am fighting the ghosts, and leaves me dead on a regular basis.
As you can imagine, this is no fun.
In all honesty, I'm not big on creep, so maybe this wasn't the game for me in the first place. The actions are repetitive; walk around looking at and picking things up things, fighting ghosts and finding yourself dead....., again.
I can play LEGO Indiana Jones and Star Wars for hours, but can only take this depressing game for about twenty minutes at a time.
I would ask the creators of this game to come up with better control interfacing. And if I could get my money back, I'd be happy.

We ski is a fun skiing game that lets you explore the mountain, run races, and find clues along the way. It almost feels like you're really skiing. I don't have the balance board, so I just use the Wii nunchuk and controller. I'm sure it's more realistic with the balance board. It's nice you can use your own Mii, or create a character in the game. The game is more fun if you play with more than one person. Cheapest Rock Band Drum Silencers

I see a lot of people cutting these things down to "fit" on the drum pads, and I've found that wasn't necessary at all. Other sources I've read say they're supposed to cover the rim so it doesn't make so much bloody noise when you strike it (and me being a newb at drums, this happens a LOT). Really, why would they make the pads so big otherwise? I glued mine on as-is and so far they're working just fine. You'll want to work it down with your finger for a minute to make sure as much of the adhesive surface sticks to the pad as possible, but I never needed to take the scissors to them.

The only drawback is that yes, you do lose a bit of sensitivity, a problem I've solved by simply hitting the drums a little harder to compensate. When I am missing notes, it's because I've positioned the drums poorly, I'm striking the rim, or I'm just sucking at the song and missing notes to begin with.

Even though they're called "silencers," "suppressors" would be a better description. They turn that wall-piercing "CRACK!" into a quieter "WHOP!" I can still hear people playing from the other side of the house, but the noise is so much less than it used to be. It's easily masked by playing my own music or closing the door. You'll want to have a buddy test them for you and walk around the house while he or she plays to get a better idea of just how loud the drum kit is with the silencers on. No two interior walls are created equal, and in my house the walls are just too thin for any midnight drumming.

So far they are showing no signs of wear and tear or coming loose. They even make the drum kit a little more stylish! Then all Hell brakes lose and you need to go back to the mother ship Ishimora. The grafics are great for a Wii game. Also the voice acting is good. The only problem is that it is a very slow game. I suppose I was hoping for the old Sonic the hedgehog and so that led to my disappointment with this game. instead of being a game where you have the freedom to explore your surroundings there was a set path that had to be raced. i say raced because sonic is almost always moving, its like a racing game with out the cars. sonic is always going forward if you missed something you have to back him up. the adventure in it's self may be good for other people, I just did not find it worth my time. the party section of the game it nice, it has a racing cart game, along with games similar to the Wii sports. however for me if i wanted to play Wii sports, then i simply would, same with a racing game I'd just play mario cart.

This game is very creative and different. I found it to be fun (mom) but it was very difficult for my 4 (almost 5) year old to comprehend. Some of the challenges involve too complicated of moves for younger children. I think it would be a lot fun for children ages 8 and over.

The other downfall was it takes a VERY long time to get to a save checkpoint. There were times I had to play 30 min longer to get a checkpoint or all work would be gone.

I would rent this game before you buy it. It is fun if it's the right game for you.

Greatest Christmas Gift Ever. At least that's what my brother said to all of his friends after I gave this to him Christmas Eve. After playing the Deca Sports 2 I knew I had to get the first one as well and I'm enjoying that game just as much as the second one, and just like Deca Sports 2 this game I feel has been unjustly rated by people. Like with the previous mentioned game a lot of these sport games here rely on timing or correct movements of the Wii remote you can't just go smashing buttons or throwing the remote around and expect to win the game tournament easily. I'm amazed at how many fun sport games there are on here from archery to soccer and like Deca Sports 2 the video animation matches the game perfectly for it, similar again to Wii Resort and such. Super Hero Squad This instant

When I first got this game as a birthday present, I was not impressed. It looked like a lackluster merchandising opportunity, and the game seemed unimpressive to say the least. However, my friends and I decided to give the game a chance since we're suckers for any four player game, and I have to say that taking the time to get to know the game truly paid off.

For one thing, the battle controls are far more sophisticated than they may seem. Unlike in Smash Bros, you're not likely to stumble upon many of the more sophisticated moves in this game by pressing a bunch of random buttons. You really need to consult the game manual and read it THOROUGHLY to discover all the combat possibilities.

While it may seem inconvenient and annoying that it's hard to discover all the battle combos on your own, as well as the fact that there are less "special" moves than in a game like Smash Bros, I think this is a strength of the game because it forces one to play with more strategy and precision. Once you and your friends have gotten to know the game, you're not likely to win a battle by mashing random buttons. You really need to know what you're doing, and I personally welcome that change.

Additionally, the characters are far more balanced than they initially seem. At first, the Hulk seems pretty unstoppable, but once you master flying, range targeting, and combo attacks, he's no better than any other character in the game. Each truly has their own strengths, weaknesses, and personal quirks. Falcon and Iron Man are the only two that I can't figure out the benefits to using, but that's probably just me.

By the way, it took my friends and I far too long to realize that you can fight CPU controlled characters by pressing the + button when players are joining for a battle. Sure the screen says this, but it's in small print on a page that people tend to fly past.

Really, the only major drawback to this game is Adventure mode, which is downright obnoxious. The stages are small, uninteresting, and ridiculously repetitive. It may take thirty seconds to reach the end of the level only to discover that you need to keep walking back and forth, unsure of what your objective is, and fighting off swarm after swarm of the exact same A.I.M. agents. I'm impressed that a clearly combat-oriented game tried to go for a full adventure mode, but it fails miserably and is entirely skip-able. Fortunately, YOU DO NOT NEED TO PLAY THE ADVENTURE MODE IN ORDER TO UNLOCK GAME FEATURES. Just playing battle mode over and over will ultimately unlock most or all of the game's characters and settings. My only complaint here is that the game is never clear about what you did (or should do) to unlock these features.

All in all, Marvel Super Hero Squad is an incredibly fun 3-D combat game with up to four players, great, well-balanced characters, and a sophisticated combat system that really requires you to learn and play carefully. The addition of unlockable content continues to make the game more exciting, as well. This is a GREAT value for under $30 and could have easily been a best-selling $49.99 game had the exact same game featured Mario characters. Look past the silly kiddie look of the game and give it a chance to wow you. Sonic and the Black Knight Decide Now

Don't listen to the critics; they are wrong on this Sonic game. In all honesty, this game is much better than I originally thought. After the failure that was Secret Rings, I honestly thought that Black Knight wasn't going to be much better. After its release, I decided to go and see how bad the game was, and was shocked to see how much better it was than Secret Rings. Better voice acting (Not that I actually care about voice acting), better gameplay, better controls, and just about better in every other area that Secret Rings failed in. Black Knight also has some amazing music; up there with the Sonic Adventure series music. And being one of those people who actually enjoy the storybook like cutscenes, I was impressed with the graphics, and the 3D ones weren't half bad either.

However, despite the game's amazing plot twist that no one was expecting, the game is too short. I got through it in a couple of hours, despite many deaths along the way. I also did not like Caliburn yelling at me through the Wii remote whenever I would accidentally hit a townsperson.

Buying Madden NFL 10

I just purchased a Wii this past Friday. "Madden NFL 10" was one of the first games I got despite the criticisms I read. In the end, it's still the "Madden" brand I've enjoyed playing over the years in previous incarnations. Yes, there are some things I don't like about it- the play-by-play commentary sucks, the Franchise mode being hidden, the difficulties of the controllers in the Superstar mode (which is my first time playing it), and well, it seems pretty difficult for me to get real competition from the computer (even in the All-Madden degree of difficulty), but on the whole, I've enjoyed getting reacquainted with this gaming classic brand. This has been by far my five year old's favorite game. He doesn't play a lot of games, and is sometimes intimidated by complicated games. But from the moment we started, he knew exactly what he needed to do to play. I wouldn't consider this an educational game, but it was fun for him. We Ski and Snowboard Review

I went snowboarding "for real" for the first time this year and loved it so I thought this game would be a fun way to snowboard year round....and I was right! The movements that the game requires you to do are def similiar to the real thing. However I do recommend that you play this game with the Wii Balance Board because the only downfall that I would say this game has is that it is difficult to play with just the remote and nunchuck. Star Wars: The Force Unleashed Top Quality

I can't believe I spent $50 for this. I even bought this game the day it was released because I had been anticipating it for a while. When I first played it, I guess i thought it was good, but not great. But that was two years ago, when I was eleven. Now I am 13, and better at recognizing good production values and amount of polish. So looking back on it, it's probably one of the worst purchases I've ever made in my life. One reason is that the game is too easy. As countless other reviewers have said, this game is too easy. There's basically no consequence for dying- you just start back there where you died, with the same amount of enemies you killed. Another is that this game is not creative, there's no pattern to kill the bosses or anything like that. The wii specific motion controls may be somewhat intuitive, but most of the time they're not responsive. Finally, the graphics look like diarrhea dump. They are worse than ps2 graphics. The only high point in this game is the sound. you have your usual williams soundtrack, the fancy star wars sound effects, and good/ok voice acting- which are all defining characteristics of star wars games.
