I completely understand some of the negative reviews I've read, but despite the drawbacks this can actually be a very enjoyable game. I gave it as a gift to a relative and the whole family spent a fun afternoon playing it. The casting is apparently an acquired skill, since some of us were very adept at it and others couldn't quite figure it out. Even the two 7-yr-olds that played it loved it. While this is better than an arcade-style fishing game, if you're looking to recreate the real fishing experience you might be disappointed.
